'JUST' WALK

Thank you to all who participated in our 2024 'JUST Walk' up the amazing Pinnacles.
What a stunning day to do this spectacular climb!
Thus far over $11,000 has been raised. We are thankful for the generosity of donors.

'JUST' WALK is a grass-roots driven fund-raising initiative for people to walk in support of vulnerable women and children, raising awareness and funds to support projects that are making a tangible difference in the lives of these communities.

Just walk 2024: The Pinnacles

Register today for our 2024 'JUST Walk' climbing the Pinnacles in the Coromandels, one of New Zealand's most popular overnight walks.
Date: March 9 & 10
Cost: $70 day trip only
Cost: $100 including overnight in the hut.
All registrations include a snack pack at the start of the walk and great company for a fantastic cause!

Participants are asked to raise $1,000 to support vulnerable girls and marginalised women.

Fitness

This is a significant climb and a reasonable level of fitness is required.
It may not be suitable for children (depending on fitness).
Participants will benefit from training before the climb.

If you are not able to join the climb, you can participate by praying, sponsoring a climber, donating a prize, or following the climb on Facebook.

FAQs

  • Do I have to stay at the hut overnight?
    It is possible to do the climb in a day, but people are encouraged to register for the overnight option for a much better experience
  • What time do we start?
    The walk starts at 11.30am. We will meet at the carpark at the end of Kauaeranga Valley Road, 9km past the Kauaeranga Visitor Centre.
  • How far is the walk?
    The walk is 6km each way - a total of 12km and should take approximately 3-4 hours each day.
  • What level of fitness is required?
    The walk requires a moderate level of fitness. There is a reasonable amount of climbing, some quite steep.
  • Do I need to bring bedding?
    Yes, the hut has dorm style accommodation. Bring packable sleeping bag, pillow and towel.
  • What should I wear for the walk?
    Wear layers to adapt to warmer or cooler weather. Check your registration confirmation email for a complete gear list.
  • What food should I bring?
    You will need to bring 2 lunches, dinner and breakfast, and water. We will provide snacks.
  • What else should I bring?
    Tissues, toilet paper, sunscreen, and hat.
  • What happens if the weather is bad?
    The Pinnacles is only closed if the weather is dangerous. The walk will take place irrespective of the weather.
  • Will there be someone doing first aid on the walk?
    Yes, we have a first aid officer joining us on the walk.
  • Do I have to raise funds?
    Yes, participants are required to raise a minimum of $1,000.
  • Are donations tax-deductible?
    All donations to DFN through Chuffed or otherwise, are tax-deductible. Optional donations to Chuffed are not tax-deductible.
    Tax receipts are issued by GDG (Global Development Group) at the end of the financial year.
  • Where do the funds go?
    The funds support abused women and at-risk girls, providing healthcare, education, advocacy, and economic empowerment.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
    If you are unable to make the event two weeks before the event a full refund less $25 administration fee will be refunded or you can transfer your registration to a future walk.
    Within two weeks of the event, we are unable to offer a refund as we will have incurred costs ourselves.

Walk for Dignity: December 3, 2022

Thank you to all who participated in, sponsored and donated to our 2022 walk climbing the stunning Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Together we raised $9,000, supporting the ongoing work in 5 villages for an entire year, supporting women and children who are exploited, enslaved and oppressed in parts of South Asia.
What a great effort!
